Audience

This course will be of great value to all native Arabic speakers who are members of a project team where the prevailing business language is English. As well as preparing you for the PRINCE2® examinations, substantial emphasis is placed on helping non-native English speakers understand the terminology surrounding Project Management and PRINCE2®. A full translated glossary of terms will be given out as part of the course materials.

Background

Project & programme management are universal disciplines used in all industry sectors including: central & local government; energy; space and aerospace; manufacturing; information technology; construction; education and training; healthcare; advertising & marketing and event management.

The world’s most widely used project management method, – PRINCE2® – originated in the UK and English has become the language of international project and management. However, the highly specialized vocabulary and syntax used in PRINCE2® can form a barrier to a non-native English speaker’s understanding of the key principles and concepts. This course is designed to meet the needs of native Arabic speakers who are required to work in a project environment where English is the main business language.

Objectives

To enable native Arabic speakers to understand and apply PRINCE2® in an environment where English is the main medium of communication.

The course will enable delegates to:

  • Acquire and use high level business and project management language skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles, themes and processes which make up PRINCE2®
  • Tailor and apply PRINCE2® to a MENA-based project case study
  • Prepare for the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Examinations which are not included in the course

Delivery Language

The course will be delivered in English by an approved PRINCE2® trainer who is also a qualified teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Learners should have achieved at least an IELTS score of 5.0-5.5, level B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for language (CEFR) or the Cambridge ESOL First Certificate.

Duration

5 Days.

Learners are not required to carry out any pre-course study as our blend of learning methods provides comprehensive preparation for both the linguistic and technical elements of the course.

This course is available on request only. Please call for details.

Resources

Extensive use will be made of extracts from the manual Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2® (2009 Edition) to develop the principles, learn the key vocabulary and practise written English comprehension skills.

The courseware includes a glossary of key PRINCE2® terms in Arabic and English and a copy of the MENA edition of the book “PRINCE2® in Plain English”.

Project Case Study

A realistic case study scenario is used throughout the course to allow learners to apply their knowledge to a project during the key phases of its life-cycle through practical teamwork activities. The case study is based on a MENA project scenario with a budget of $1.5 million. The scenario includes elements of construction, ITC, HR and marketing.
