THE LATEST UPDATE: PRINCE2 2017

Later this year our partners AXELOS, the owners of PRINCE2, will be updating the method’s Best Practice Guidance. PRINCE2 2017 retains the tried and tested set of principles, themes and processes that have made the method so popular.

The new guidance won’t affect the validity of a current PRINCE2 Certificate, but there will be some changes to the exam format and re-registration arrangements. These changes affect people who hold the PRINCE2 Foundation certificate and who wish to upgrade to the Practitioner Certificate. They also affect people who hold the Practitioner Certificate and who wish to re-register for another five years.

We have tried to answer the main questions about the new exams here, but if you have a specific question that is not answered please contact us by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I already hold a PRINCE2 Foundation Certificate - how can I upgrade to the Practitioner certificate?

Your current Foundation Certificate will allow you to take the Practitioner Exam based on PRINCE2:2009 until the end of 2017. After that, the Practitioner Exam will only be availble based on the PRINCE2:2017 manual. So if you hold the PRINCE2 2009 Foundation Certificate, it makes sense to upgrade to the Practitioner Certificate sometime during 2017. Your certificate will be valid for five years.

Benchmark will continue to run PRINCE2:2009 exam workshops unitl the exam is phased out at the end of the year. To ensure that you have the latest guidance, the price of the Practitioner exam workshop will include a copy of the new 2017 edition of "Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2" and "PRINCE2 2017 in Plain English".
